The problem
Addresses in Pakistan are hard. The same house can be written a dozen ways, and large marketplaces need to turn whatever a user types into an accurate point on a map, and back again.
What I built
Three APIs: autocomplete as you type, geocode from address to point, and reverse geocode from point to address. Behind them sits an index of more than 7 million house addresses, points of interest, landmarks and areas, tuned for accuracy and relevance.
I also designed the R&D team’s hiring process and ran its technical assessments for the FY21 hiring programme.
The result
The services were used by OLX and Zameen.com. The R&D initiatives I oversaw represented more than 45% of the department’s FY21 revenue.
