Skimli: a 10-service platform built from zero
Architected and led a 10-service microservices platform from the ground up, defining technical strategy alongside the CTO.
- 10
- services designed and shipped
- 0→1
- from first decision to production
The problem
Skimli needed a platform that could grow feature by feature without turning into one tangled codebase, and long-running jobs that could survive failures and retries.
What I built
Working alongside the CTO, I defined the technical strategy and architected a platform of ten NestJS microservices behind an API gateway.
Temporal Workflow handles distributed task coordination and durable execution, so long-running work keeps its state through crashes, deploys and retries. Data lives in PostgreSQL and everything runs in Docker on AWS.
The result
I owned the full lifecycle, from the first architecture decisions through to production reliability.
